Between the Trees
Between the Trees is a site-responsive tree-installation inspired by mycelium, the 'internet of the forest’. Forming a collaborative musical instrument, Between the Trees incorporates touch technology and live plant material within a tactile web of 'mycelial threads'. Participants create sound and light compositions in real time by interacting with suspended, miniature ecospheres, gently highlighting our connectedness to the natural world and each other.
Between the Trees premiered as part of Glow Winter Arts Festival 2018 as a free public event for all ages.
An Audio introduction by Description Victoria relating to the premiere season is available here.
The design recycles and reimagines elements from Melinda Hetzel and Co's previous tree-installation, Urban Cocoon.
