"This highly imaginative, whimsical performance creates powerful imaginative worlds, where the non-dominating human-animal becomes one species within a multi-species world." Denise Varney, for Conservatory 2020 (IFTR Conference Galway 2021)

Created in collaboration between Melinda Hetzel & Co. and Niow, ‘Conservatory' is a playful, live-streamed performance-installation for all ages.
‘Conservatory’ invites you to step into the dream-world reality of a solitary character living within a plant-filled greenhouse. Watch on as they play, dance, dream, lose hope, and find it again. An unexpected coming-of-age story, played out through music, dance, theatre, sparklers and a little fairy floss, during these, the strangest of times. The sun sets, the world transforms, time slows down, as the cameras, and the plants, start to take over. Performed live by Niow (Cirque du Soleil, Polyglot) from within an historic conservatory. Simultaneously live-streamed free to your device. This rainbow-friendly, durational experience unfolds progressively over the course of the evening, across all three performance sessions. Attend in person or online, or both - by streaming live to your device whilst watching through the windows at the green house. Conservatory premiered as part of Melbourne Fringe Festival 2020 and was nominated for Best Experimental Performance. The premiere season was supported by the City of Stonnington. |
